Private Detective Service

CAAGe trials partnering with P&D (Private and Discreet) Investigations Ltd

  • How can Private Detectives Help Grooming Victims?

When you’re being groomed you want to know what’s happening.

When you’ve been groomed, you want to know what happened.

If you opt for legal action, you want evidence.

CAAGe looks at how private detectives can help:

  • Why Partner with P&D?

It is really hard to find/identify a good private detective/private detective agency. At CAAGe, we believe we’ve found both in the form of Private Investigator (PI) John Bateman and his team at P&D Investigations.

They came highly recommended to us by someone who used their services to investigate the suspected groomer in a case of sexual grooming.

  • About P&D Investigations

Lead by ex-police detective John Bateman, P&D is made up of experienced ex-police officers and investigators with a detective background.

They are full members of the Institute of Professional Investigators (IPI) & Ex Police in Commerce (EPIC).

P&D has a full track record, great reviews, and was founded in 1994.

  • Professionalism

Founder of P&D, John Bateman, is not only a member of the IPI, but a sits on the board.

They (the IPI) are currently campaigning for stronger regulation of the private investigation industry, which is currently unregulated. In the UK, currently almost anyone can set up as a private detective.

    Traceability (P&D):

The company is also fully insured.

  • Costs

Every investigation is different according to what needs doing, who’s doing it, and what’s involved.

A straightforward person trace with P&D might cost, just to offer ball park figure, £250-300.

(For comparison purposes, our founder, Claire Thompson, was quoted four times this amount by an agency tracing information about her suspected sexual groomer. That agency discovered only that he had a ‘burn phone’ - no contract, no trace. Not good enough for tht kind of money!)

The first, introductory, consultation with P&D is free, and you will be given a clearer idea of pricing for your project.

We regret that CAAGe is not currently in a position to fund or subsidise this activity at present.

John Bateman, Private Investigator

Meet John Bateman, MIPI

Whatever brought you to our door, secrecy and hidden information is unlikely to help your decisions or your trust of us at CAAGe.

So we think it’s important that you understand who is behind P&D Investigations: meet John Bateman, MIPI, who leads the team.

Having started his career in the Merchant Navy (navigating officer), John joined the police force (Hertford Constabulary) as a Detective Constable in 1983. He left eleven years later, in 1994, to form P&D, and now leads a team of specialists.

He is a board member (and treasurer) for the Institute of Private Investigators, and is passionate about raising standards across the industry.

Not all are, of course, regarding grooming related cases, but offer at least a reassuring insight into the quality of their work.

    Why pick an EPIC Member?

There are certain advantages to choosing to work with en ex-police officer. If they are members of EPIC you can be sure they really were serving police officers.

  • Police have lost the skill and the will

We have talked a lot, above, about the IPI.

The other association of PIs is the ABI.

Anyone working in with victims will be well aware of the challenges in working with the police, and the limitations that they face.

In this vein, the ABI wrote this article regarding police and PIs when it comes to investigating fraud:

Police have lost the skill and the will

  • Catching my Rapist

Documentary recommended by PI John Bateman about one woman’s dogged five year struggle to bring her rapist to justice.

Currently on itvx, this cannot be viewed outside of the UK (apologies)
